Knights Cross Country Makes History at Jim Ryun Invitational

On Saturday, the Geneva Knights cross country team ran through the competition at the Jim Ryun invitational at Holloway Park. Starting with the JV teams, Mathias Harmon finished 14th for the boys JV and Cara McDow and Naomi Ostrom finished in 5th and 11th place respectively for the JV girls, all taking home medals The girls varsity team of Jocelyn Hannah (113th), Susanna Gonnella (81st), Sarah Lawton (19th), Sophie Yates(17th), Ella Feder(13th), and Carolina Austin(10th) managed to take home the runners up trophy out of the 23 teams at the meet, our highest finish ever at the meet, including Ella and Carolina winning medals for finishing in the top 15. The boys team of Eli Kennedy (48th), Oliver Stainsby (23rd), Jude Stainsby (14th), Ryder Dempsey (10th), Tyler McDow (4th), Benaiah Lawton (3rd), and Oliver Dempsey (1st) scored an impressive 32 points and taking home our first ever the victory at the annual Jim Ryun invitational. The top 5 boys all took home medals by finishing inside the top 15, including Oliver Dempsey being crowned individual champion and running the 31st fastest time ever run at the course and just missing the school record.
